Historical Note

The Queens College Seal Design Collection consists of all the seal designs that were proposed by individuals in 1937 to be the official seal of the newly founded college. The collection has 12 designs total, three with short descriptions, plus the official seal that was selected at that time. The winning design is not in the collection as a draft, but is present as a plaque.

Scope and Contents Note

The collection contains seal designs from the founding of Queens College. The majority of the collection consists of sketches submitted to the College, some with notes explaining the symbolism of the seal’s different parts.
