THE STUDENT AUTOMATION
THE FACULTY AUTOMATION

The 4 Bills Now in the State Legislature Would Make Robots of Both Students & Faculty

1) The McMullen Bill would bar Communists from Civil Service jobs.
The term Communist no longer means only a member of the Communist Party, but any progressive or liberal. This bill would cause rampant firings of Civil Service employees, and would intensify the already widespread fear. Students hoping for a Civil Service appointment would become afraid to think or act other than a long the most conventional lines.

2) The Feinberg Board of Regent measure would enable the Board of Regents to set up its own list of “subversive” organizations addition to those on Tom Clark’s list. Teachers affiliated with these organizations would be barred from the N.Y. educational system.

Tom Clark 's list labelled as subversive organizations which not only never knew why they were being thus labelled, but were never permitted to defend themselves from these charges.
Since the publication of this list, thousands of government employees have been intimidated and terrorized. The Board of Regents list would initiate a similar campaign against N.Y. teachers.

Controversial issues would be prevented in the classroom!
More and more, teachers and students would f ear to express
their opinions ••• And soon free discussion would stop!
