THE CHANEY GOODMAN SCHWERNER MEMORIAL COALITION
The Chaney Goodman Schwerner Coalition wants to send a message to our nation that the stubble for equality and justice must continue. In that spirit, and in the name of the Chaney Goodman Schwerner Coalition, schools, colleges and institutions founded on equal opportunity and non-violent social change will perpetuate the work of James, Andrew and Michael.
The New York City Board of Education has instituted a voter registration and civil rights curriculum. Queens College is building a permanent endowment for its annual Chaney Goodman Schwerner award given to a graduate who best exemplifies the civid responsibility for which the three died. The New York State Martin Luther King Institute for Social Change will present certificates, awards and medals each year to three young people who make outstanding contributions to civil rights. And throughout the country, public interests groups, religious organizations and unions are planning to develop educational programs leading to active participation in government affairs and community action.
In the memory, and in the spirit of James Chaney, Andrew Goodman and Michael Schwerner, we will continue to work toward racial harmony, social and economic justice and 100% registration.
