PLANS FOR COMMUNION BREAKFAST NEAR COMPLETION.
The annual Communion Breakfast planned for Sunday, May 4, is rapidly reaching the final stages. The committee is headed by Jim Matthews. The Mass will be held at St. Joachim and Anne Church, Hollis Ave. off Springfield Blvd, Queens Village. The breakfast will be at Marwede's Restaurant, only a block away, at Springfield Blvd, off Jamaica Ave. Tickets are one dollar. ($1.00)
Speakers for the occasion have not yet been definitely selected. However, the committee is considering Mr. Michael Walsh, the Secretary of the State of New York as the lay speaker. The religious speaker will be chosen from Fr. Edward Lodge Curren of the International Catholic Truth Society, Msgr. Peter Quealy, the pastor of St. Agnes Church in Rockville Center, Fr. Walsh, the President of St. John's College, or any others suggested by the committee or our chaplain, Fr. Kelly.
Muriel Froehlich, Jim Dugan, Bud Carmody, Peggy Twohig, Ed Kreitsek, Marie Irving and a few others have been helping the chairman in working out the details of the breakfast.
Tickets will be available in a few weeks and can be purchased from any member of the committee or the more active members who may act as salesmen by seeing the main committee members.
We urge you to buy your tickets at least a week before the event is scheduled in order to facilitate the final arrangements which must be indicated before the proceeding Wednesday.
There were 250 at last year's breakfast. We hope to have 400 this year. Let's Make it the most successful in Newman Club history.
