Editorial
The Newman Club of 1941 rose to new heights of achievement under the inspiring guidance of our dynamic ex-chaplin, Fr. William F. Kelly of St. Monica's. The club eagerly anticipated each visit of Fr. Kelly and it was with sad reluctance that we accepted his resignation at the end of the Spring 41 semester. Fr. Kelly was the originator of the Seminar; he contributed invaluable assistance spiritual and material to the founding of the staff and of the now well established Mitre. We derived many benefits and pleasures from our relationship with Fr. Kelly and will always reserve a fine memory of the year of Father's chaplain-ship.
But "'tis an ill wind that blows no good", and the wind that wafted Fr. Kelly off the Queens College Campus brought to us our new Chaplain, Fr. Raymond Newfeld of St. Bartholomew's, Elmhurst. Fr. Newfeld has long been interested in the activities of young Catholic students and served as chaplain for the Newton High School Newman Club. His constant concern for the Catholic students resulted in his familiarizing himself with the problems aspirations and needs of the Queens College Newman Club. We could not have had any better fortune than that of having Fr. Newfeld appointed as our chaplain. The official Bishop's appointment has been recivd and Fr. Newfeld will step inmto his role as moderator of the Club at its next meeting.
We anticipate progress of the club under the able inspiration of Fr. Newfeld. Father will do more than carry his share of the burden fellow member, the rest is up to us. Rally round, Newmanites, with one new leader and the old spirit "The Newman Club will be heard from" in Queens College.
